GOVERNOR GÖKMEN ÇIÇEK WAS IMPRESSED BY THE KÖŞK MEDRESE, WHOSE RESTORATION WAS COMPLETED IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu, Mayor of Melikgazi Municipality, inspected the restoration works of the historic Köşk Medrese, which has witnessed centuries, together with Governor Gökmen Çiçek.
Governor Gökmen Çiçek expressed his gratitude to Mayor Palancıoğlu for keeping his promise and swiftly completing the restoration of the historic monument. He then toured the medrese with admiration.
Mayor Palancıoğlu stated that after the completion of the restoration of the approximately 700-year-old Köşk Medrese, it will serve as a cultural and art centre. He said, "This structure is one of the most important monuments in Kayseri, perhaps unknown or even forgotten. We, as Melikgazi Municipality, have restored the Köşk Medrese, which gives its name to the neighbourhood. It has been used as a barracks, a prison, and a soup kitchen. The entire structure is enclosed, with only the top open. It has four rooms, two downstairs and two upstairs." It's a precious structure where stone craftsmanship has been beautifully applied. Our restoration is complete, and we will soon host cultural and social activities here. We will have concerts, discussions, and it will also be a serene, pleasant, and peaceful place where we can enjoy tea, coffee, and read books. I would like to express my sincere thanks to our esteemed Governor for motivating us and entrusting us with the task of revitalizing this place. We had a debt to the Eretnid Principality, and we have tried to partly repay it. May it bring goodness to our district and to Kayseri.

Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek expressed his joy at the completion of the restoration of the medrese in a short time and the revival of this beautiful historic monument. He said, "This is one of the most important monuments in Turkish history in Kayseri, especially as it marks the site where the founder of the Eretnid Principality, Alaaddin Eretna, who ended Mongol rule in Kayseri and restored Turkish sovereignty, along with his wife, children, and grandchildren, is buried."
"Mayor Palancıoğlu brought me here a year ago. It looked new from the outside, but I was disappointed when I entered. It was much neglected, and it needed to be revitalized as soon as possible. Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu promised me that he would restore it to its original state in a very short time. Now, we are here together again, inspecting it. Especially from the floor up, beautiful work has been done in all the rooms, making it a place worthy of our ancestors. For this reason, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu for keeping his promise and for having it done. The opening will take place very soon, and I am eagerly looking forward to it. Congratulations."
