Melikgazi Municipality Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu is establishing a high-quality market where second-hand goods will be bought and sold, bringing together buyers and sellers in the district.
“A Decent Environment Will Be Provided for Second-Hand Shopping”
Stating that their aim is not only to beautify the face of Melikgazi but also to move forward with alternative solutions, Melikgazi Municipality Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu said, 'With our projects that will add value to Melikgazi, we continue to make life easier for our fellow citizens.' We have shared with you many innovative projects that we will implement. One of them is our 'Bayat-Bat Flea Market' project, which has its roots in the Ottoman period. In the Ottoman era, a 'second-hand market' called Bayat Pazarı was established. Later, this term evolved from 'bat market' to 'flea market' and became ingrained in our language. The Bayat Pazarı, where second-hand goods are traded, continues its tradition today as a flea market. In the Eskişehir Bağları, there is a flea market set up on Sundays, and in the Tacettin Veli Neighbourhood, there are many shops where second-hand household appliances are bought and sold. By establishing our Bayat Pazarı, we will provide space for vendors selling second-hand items, enabling them to conduct their trade in a more quality environment. Our citizens will also be able to shop in a more decent environment at our Bayat Pazarı.
Thanks to our market where second-hand goods are traded, our citizens will have access to economic and quality products in a more decent environment. Our economy will thrive, and both our vendors and citizens will be happier. Our Bayat-Bat Flea Market, which will add colour to Melikgazi with its unique concept, will become a popular destination for our citizens. We wish our Bayat-Bat Flea Market a successful launch." Mayor Palancıoğlu, who has enhanced the prosperity of Melikgazi by adding new record-breaking services, continues his efforts to implement his projects and further improve the well-being of the district.
