The Mayor of Melikgazi is Dr. Mustafa Palancioglu said that environmental awareness was given to students with zero waste mascots about zero waste and recycling.

           Expressing that they will create an awareness in recycling with Zero Waste Education Mascots, Mayor Dr. Palancıoğlu said, "We continue to provide zero waste trainings to our students through our cooperation with schools. As part of the ‘Environmental Detectives Project’ of Besime Özderici Elementary School, they collected waste materials in our blue recycling bags that we distributed to fourth-grade students of Besime Özderici Elementary School. They loaded their waste into our recycling trucks with their own hands. After that, they considered the separation of the recycling materials collected by our students in our facility as practical and they received zero waste training here. The students were taught how recycling is important for our environment, our future and our world and what can be done about it. Our zero waste mascots at our facility have also attracted the attention of children. In addition, the practical work of the facility was explained in a hands-on manner on our Lego facility project. With this event, it was prepared in order for children to develop awareness about issues such as the protection of natural assets, environmentally friendly consumption habits, and waste management and to recognize the zero waste approach.
