Melikgazi Municipality, which is breaking records with its afforestation and green space efforts, announced the arrival of spring with afforestation work. Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu, who has expressed his desire to be known as the "President of the Plane Trees" at every opportunity and who has brought the district together with huge green areas, participated in the afforestation efforts carried out throughout the district.

“We are planting trees, not saplings.” With the slogan "We are bringing the first trees of 2026 to Melikgazi," Mayor Palancıoğlu stated that they continue to work diligently to leave a green mark in every neighborhood, adding the following in his statement: “We have opened the season! We are planting the first trees of 2026. God willing, the plane trees we have planted will take root here for perhaps 200-300 years, and people and insects will benefit from them. They will clean the air and provide shade. Trees make a great contribution to Kayseri and Melikgazi. The plane trees we planted today are approximately 15 years old, and we are planting them with a crane. We are trying to bring thousands of them to all our neighborhoods, especially at our main intersections and medians in the center. We are planting trees, not saplings, and we are working hard to ensure that trees grow in Melikgazi.” We are saving the year. Thanks to our special irrigation system, the plane tree roots grow downwards and do not damage the sidewalks or asphalt. I ask our fellow citizens to take good care of these beautiful trees. We are adding over 5000 trees to Melikgazi.”

“Our Afforestation Efforts Will Continue Intensively in 2026!”

Stating that they continue tree pruning work in addition to tree planting, Mayor Palancıoğlu continued his words as follows: “As Melikgazi Municipality, with the arrival of spring, we are continuing tree planting work. We have started our planting and pruning work. We have started our park and garden work intensively. As soon as the trees are pruned, we collect the pruned trees with an excavator and take them to our recycling facility. We also use the pruned tree parts in our recycling facility. We are especially looking at places that need to be renovated, especially the medians, parks, and intersections. I would also like to thank my team members. They are truly doing these beautiful works with dedication in every corner of Melikgazi. We are planting trees, building intersections and medians. Our work will continue intensively in 2026 as well.”
