Melikgazi Municipality, by successfully restoring the historical Bakkaloğlu Mansion in Germir Neighbourhood, carries the traces of the past into the future. The mansion will be repurposed as a vineyard museum.
Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu stated that they would restore the mansion's dormant structure in accordance with its original design, bringing it back to functional use. He said the following:
"We continue our restoration projects that bring Kayseri's ancient culture to light. As Melikgazi Municipality, we conduct restoration works to revive historical structures within the district boundaries. As a municipality that values history, our efforts persist. We are restoring various structures, including historical mansions, in addition to inns, madrasas, tombs, and fountains, bringing them into the present. In our endeavours, we not only reveal our cultural heritage but also pass it on to future generations, giving a new purpose to these structures. In this context, we are restoring the Bakkaloğlu Mansion in Germir Neighbourhood, underlining the renowned vineyards of Kayseri." The history of viticulture in Anatolia dates back as far as the settlement history of communities. It has been the subject of folk songs. Bakkaloğlu Mansion was reduced to mere traces. Upon completion of the restoration, we will inaugurate this place as the Vineyard Museum, pioneering a first in Turkey. We will pass on the viticulture culture to future generations. Therefore, by bringing such a beautiful project into service, we aim to reflect Kayseri's vineyard culture. After completion, we will furnish the interior of the mansion in accordance with its era.
Expressing the municipality's commitment to preserving culture and ensuring the transmission of this culture to new generations, Mayor Palancıoğlu wished success for the first-of-its-kind Bakkaloğlu Vineyard Museum in Kayseri.
