Known for its reference and sample recycling studies, Melikgazi Municipality collected 7 thousand tons of recycling and 50 thousand liters of waste oil in 2020.

Melikgazi Mayor Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu stated that the work on the recycling of domestic wastes in Melikgazi is continuing successfully.

Reminding that the recycling study, which started with the collection of paper, metal and glass waste separately, today covers a wide variety such as the collection of tire, battery, electronic and edible oil waste. Palancıoğlu stated that the most important issue in education is education and awareness raising.

Stating that there is a great difference and development in the comparison between 2019 and 2020, President Dr. Palancıoğlu said the following on the subject:

“Melikgazi Municipality is an environmentally friendly municipality. In this respect, it has become an exemplary and reference municipality with the recycling study that it initiated with the aim of preventing environmental pollution and wasting natural resources. In addition, indoor recycling bins and zero waste sets and packaging waste are collected at 285 sales points, 1,920 workplaces, 23 public institutions and organizations, 302 schools, 3 universities, 3 dormitories, 22 hospitals and 14 hotels. In 220, 3500 buildings and 135 thousand flats were reached and 500 thousand bags were distributed per month. We got 85 percent efficiency from this. 1,800 sets of zero waste boxes were distributed to institutions and organizations. The success rate of Talas Municipality is working on the collection of waste is much higher than the 90 percent in Turkey this figure. In a way, this is an expression of the importance that Melikgazi gave to recycling.
