Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu will participate in the 49th General Assembly of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, which will be held in Strasbourg, France, from October 27-30, 2025, as part of the international representation of local authorities.
The meeting, which will bring together mayors and local authorities from various European countries, will address issues such as the Russian and Ukrainian crises, security issues in Europe, how to meet the need for social housing due to the global economic crisis, and youth participation in democracy.
Turkey at the Council of Europe President Palancıoğlu, who will represent Kayseri, said the following about the meeting he will attend:
“The Council of Europe is a large organization, to which Türkiye became a member in 1949, representing 47 countries with 350 members. I have been representing Türkiye in the Council of Europe for 11 years, with the approval of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This year, I will attend the Council of Europe meeting on October 27-30, 2025, and strive to represent our country in the best possible way. The problems in Europe continue to grow. Especially after the Russia and Ukraine crises, Europe has become somewhat preoccupied with its own problems. Therefore, Russia and Ukraine will be among the most important agenda items. Additionally, the security issue in Europe will be discussed. Various meetings will be held to address the necessary work to be done in this regard, the necessary measures to be taken, and, most importantly, how to meet the need for social housing due to the global economic crisis.
Following this, four important agenda items will focus on issues such as youth participation in democracy and the progress of youth-related work. I wish the decisions to be beneficial and auspicious.
