Mayor Palancıoğlu included the following in his congratulatory message:

"July 24, 1908, as is well known, is a significant day when censorship against freedom of expression was lifted. After the freedom of the press, newspapers began to be published without censorship for the first time on this date. Freedom of communication is extremely important in societies governed by democracy. Our members of the press continue their reporting activities in various media outlets. While continuing these activities, they make various sacrifices and, when necessary, strive to do their job at the expense of their lives.
