We have completed the restoration of the 525-year-old Gön Han, which we consider one of the most important restorations in Kayseri in recent times, which we have done in the last 3.5 years. Now we are moving on to furnishing it. We will organize the ‘Roots and Future of Trade: Kayseri Covered Bazaar and Han District Vision Workshop’ to introduce the Covered Bazaar and Vezir Han to the academic community, national and international community, and to explain the Covered Bazaar and its trade culture. We will introduce Gön Han and our historical values in the best way. The trade culture of the past and it is important in terms of promoting our values. Hopefully, Gön Han will host all its visitors this summer and become the center of social and cultural events. Hopefully, with the opening of Köşk Medrese and then Sanat Melikgazi, 2026 will be an important year for Melikgazi in terms of historical artifacts and art. I thank the whole team very much.” He said.

Kayseri City Council President Serdar Altuğ said, “As the City Council, we visited the works done in Gön Han together at the invitation of our Mayor Palancıoğlu. Incredible work has been done there. Thanks to Professor Burak from Abdullah Gül University, our Chamber of Architects and other municipal employees, and with the instruction of our mayor, we decided to turn this work into a large international meeting chain. Thank you, and I wish it to be successful.”

Thanking Melikgazi Municipality, which will host the workshop, the President of the Chamber of Architects, Kayseri Branch, Murtaza Er, said the following:

“In Turkey, the re-functionalization of these restored structures is as important as the restoration of cultural heritage. In this sense, during the technical tour of Gön Han, which has a history of approximately 500 years, we made this suggestion We brought it to our mayor. Thankfully, our Melikgazi Mayor was receptive to this idea. After a long period of work, we will organize a workshop in Kayseri with many participants. It will be a wonderful program with very important discussions about the roots of trade and the future of the city. The outcomes of this program will also say important things about the future in such an ancient historical city. I invite everyone to the workshop we will organize on April 16-18.”

Stating that they have carried out a long-term study with Melikgazi Municipality, City Council and Chamber of Architects, Dean of Abdullah Gül University Faculty of Architecture, Prof. Dr. Burak Asiliskender said, “We would like to thank Melikgazi Municipality very much. Our aim is to re-emphasize the main characteristic of Kayseri, which is known for its trade. We will discuss how we can create a revitalization policy through the Covered Bazaar, Vezir Han and Gön Han, how we can include new functions here through cultural heritage, and how we can revitalize the city's economy together with creative industries. Our aim will be to put this city, where the roots of trade were born, on the world agenda on a global level.”
