The Municipality of the Most: Melikgazi

Stating that 2026 will be a year of even more positive developments in Melikgazi, Mayor Palancıoğlu said, “We are leaving 2025 behind. I said that ‘2025 will be the year of Melikgazi’ and we have made this a reality. 2025 was a year that excited us greatly, a year in which many projects were started. If we were to briefly summarize the services we provided as Melikgazi Municipality in 2025, there are many topics that we could talk about for hours. But the most important of these is that we are the municipality that built the most schools in Türkiye. In this context, we built 26 schools in 6 years. Some of these schools were opened in 2025. The most important of our schools is the Aviation and Space Sciences High School. We have opened it, and currently 50 students are receiving education in the English preparatory class here. Hopefully, these students will contribute to the future of Türkiye. Another important Our project is Çarşı Melikgazi. We have signed some of the contracts for Çarşı Melikgazi, and hopefully it will be opened to your service as soon as possible. I would also like to emphasize that, in addition to being the municipality that built the most schools, we are also the municipality that built the most libraries. We have built 18 "Akıl Küpü" (Brain Cube) Libraries and reached approximately 73,000 members. Our young people study their lessons and prepare for their exams in comfort in our libraries. The number of these libraries will increase even more. Health is very important for us. Regarding family health centers, we said that "there will no longer be a need for family health centers in Melikgazi"; we kept our promise. We have also provided you with many social facilities. As Melikgazi, we attach great importance to historical artifacts. We have revived Gön Han, one of our most important restoration projects. A 520-year-old structure has been brought back to life. In 2026, we will bring Gön Han to you and hold various events here. Our Köşk Medrese restoration project is one of the most important projects of 2025. The Köşk Medrese, which has stood for more than 700 years... The madrasa has reopened its doors and started serving you. 2026 will be a year in which it will be used even more actively,” he said. Listing the projects undertaken, Mayor Palancıoğlu reminded that parks and afforestation efforts are among the most important works they prioritize in the district, saying, “Everyone knows our slogan now: ‘We are planting trees, not saplings.’ In Melikgazi, we have planted 10-15-20 year old, even 30 year old plane, linden, and oak trees, saving time by not waiting for the trees to grow for many years. Hopefully, our afforestation and park and garden works will continue rapidly in 2026. We have built 336 parks in the last 6 years. Therefore, our citizens now know that Melikgazi Municipality is not just planting saplings, it is planting trees.” He stated:

Urban Transformation Will Be at the Forefront Again in 2026

Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu, stating that they have carried out urban transformation work in 8 areas, said, “I think our urban transformation efforts are on a scale that many municipalities would not dare to undertake. We are carrying out urban transformation in exactly 8 areas. The first phase in Yıldırım Beyazıt Neighborhood is finished and we have handed it over. Our second phase work is nearing completion, and God willing, we will draw lots and hand over the keys in the summer of 2026. Our third phase work is also continuing. Another project of ours, the Aydınlıkevler urban transformation project, was very well received, and we reached an agreement with the surrounding blocks. We are starting our second phase work in Aydınlıkevler, in the old Çorakçılar area. May it be auspicious. Again, in our Aydınlıkevler Neighborhood, we reached an agreement with the blocks opposite the old bus station. We will start the demolition work within 1-2 months. Therefore, urban transformation will be at the forefront again in 2026.” In our Battalgazi, Anbar, and Kazım Karabekir districts, our 2nd and 3rd phase projects are ongoing. We have delivered thousands of apartments to their rightful owners. God willing, our new urban transformation projects will continue intensively in the Hulusi Akar, Yıldırım Beyazıt, and Konaklar districts. Another positive initiative is that while we allocate some of the apartments we produce to their rightful owners, we also sell others to our valued fellow citizens through auctions. We offer these apartments with 36-month installments, without interest, without price increases, with a 25% down payment and the remaining balance payable in 36 installments at fixed prices. Our auctions related to this have been successfully completed, and our citizens are pleased.” He said:

Mayor Palancıoğlu, stating that they are a municipality that loves children very much and implements projects for them, said the following:

“We have built a Story House and Toy Library for our children. Here, we will have many activities that will make your children smile. Children who cannot afford expensive toys will be able to take the toys they want from here and play with them, and they will return them on designated days so that other children can play with them. We have a drama workshop here, where plays and dramas will be performed. Another important project for 2025 is the Mobile Mayor. I toured the neighborhoods and listened to the demands of our citizens. We will continue to increase this in 2026. Visiting every neighborhood and listening to our valuable fellow citizens is important for us. In 2026, we will build new social facilities, libraries, schools, health centers, Quran courses, restoration works, marketplaces, sports facilities, and square arrangements.” We have many projects like these. We also have many projects that we will either inaugurate or lay the foundation for in 2026. Therefore, we are working tirelessly to serve. If you were to research the municipalities in Türkiye that conduct the most tenders and make the most investments, everyone would see that Melikgazi Municipality is among the top. With a population of nearly 600,000, Melikgazi would be the 41st province in Türkiye if it were to become a province. Therefore, serving Melikgazi makes us happy. We serve our fellow citizens in the best possible way. I had declared 2025 as the year of Melikgazi. God willing, Melikgazi will continue to flourish, grow even more, and shine even brighter in 2026. We will continue to inaugurate and lay the foundation for many projects in Melikgazi. I especially want to emphasize this; Melikgazi is a debt-free municipality. In 2025, Melikgazi will not only be debt-free, but will also be a municipality that manages its budget in the best way and provides the best service. We produce a lot of service with a small workforce. God willing, our work will be the best. This will continue in 2026 as well. I thank all our citizens, my colleagues, our council members, and our village heads for their support. I hope that 2026 will bring good things and be a year of many more good services.”
