Ablution room in Gesi and Registered Fountain is Restored

In Gesi Ablution room and the Registered Fountain is Restored Melikgazi Municipality, which continues its works in order to transfer its historical and cultural heritage to future generations, will restore the historical fountain and mansion in Gesi Kuzey Mahalle and function it as an ablution facility.
Stating that they aim to restore historical fountains and make them usable again, Mayor of Melikgazi Dr. Mustafa Palancioğlu said, “We are continuing the renovation works of the historical buildings that are on the verge of collapse in our district. We restore and reuse historical fountains, mansions, mosques and inns, which are among the tangible cultural heritages of our district because they reflect the characteristics of the architecture and adorn the streets as architectural monuments, which were once a source of life.
The registered fountain, located in the Gesi Kuzey Mahallesi of Melikgazi district, belongs to the 19th century. We aim to keep the unregistered dilapidated building located in the area adjacent to the fountain, which has lost its function today, by functioning as an ablution room. We use original stone and original construction technique. The building consists of ablution rooms lined up around a courtyard and sits on a total area of 290 square meters. Restoration practices of the buildings started in accordance with the project approved by the Kayseri Cultural Heritage Preservation Regional Board. We will complete the project within 3 months and include the fountain and the ablution house among historical and cultural heritages. I wish you good luck.” said
