A major earthquake drill was held by the Kayseri Governorate, under the leadership of AFAD, within the scope of the Turkey Disaster Response Plan (TAMP), centered in Kayseri province and impacting the provinces of Yozgat and Nevşehir, using a 6.4 magnitude earthquake scenario.

The drill aimed to provide statistical and methodological experience to relevant institutions, organizations, and individuals on how to conduct the fastest and most effective response and preliminary treatment efforts against a possible earthquake in Kayseri, and to conduct studies addressing vital situations. The Melikgazi Search and Rescue Team (MAKUT) took part in the drill.

MAKUT, which participated in search and rescue and debris removal efforts with its 56-person team during the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake that occurred on February 6, 2023, was on the field during the current drill, carrying out debris removal efforts with 23 people. The Kahramanmaraş-centered team, which received training before the earthquake, completed the necessary training by participating in AFAD training programs such as urban search and rescue and humanitarian aid training.

Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. As part of the drill, Melikgazi Municipality Search and Rescue teams inspected the search and rescue efforts of the Yıldırım Beyazıt neighborhood following a scenario-based demolition.

Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu stated that the disaster experienced in the February 6 Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake revealed how real and untimely the earthquake was, emphasizing the drill's importance and adding:
