Melikgazi Municipality, which participated in the Municipalities Forum (BELFOR) held in Ankara under the auspices of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey (TBB), attracted great national attention with its pioneering projects in the fields of technology and education.

Melikgazi Municipality was successfully represented by its Research and Development Directorate at the forum, which was held on April 16-17, 2026, with the aim of increasing the institutional capacities of municipalities and sharing examples of good practices. Melikgazi Municipality met with municipality representatives from all over Turkey at the platform; It made a difference especially in the themes of “Scientific and Technological Innovation” and “Youth Policies”.

THE TECHNOLOGY OF THE FUTURE IS TAKING SHAPE IN MELIKGAZI

In the presentations made within the scope of the Forum, two giant projects of Melikgazi Municipality, reflecting its vision of equal opportunity and technological transformation in education, stood out. The workshops, which provide young people with access to modern workspaces and prepare them for the future world of software, robotics and artificial intelligence, were presented as a “model application” for other municipalities. The Aviation and Space High School project, which is one of the strongest supports given to Turkey's National Technology Initiative at the local government level, received great appreciation from the participants.

Melikgazi Municipality will continue its determined efforts to produce "smart cities" and "human-centered technology," said Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu, thanking the R&D Directorate teams who contributed to this success, stated the following: “We continue to add new projects and investments that shape the future of Melikgazi. Our Brain Cube Libraries are the apple of our youth's eye. Our investments in the field of technology are also at a considerable level.
