Melikgazi Municipality shared its knowledge and experience on recycling by participating in the “IFAT Eurasia 2021 Environmental Technologies Fair” organized by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization on October 21-23 in Istanbul.

     Municipal recycling unit "Zero Waste Management in local government reminiscent Mayor of Melikgazi Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu attended the panel. In the panel “Made by our friends our municipality to other municipalities, and the Authorized Participants, recycling projects for zero waste education and awareness about the activities of our training facility, was to transfer our knowledge and experience. Blue recycling bags are distributed weekly to 130,375 apartments with separate collection works at the source and we are working with 80 percent efficiency. Efforts are underway in a planned manner to deliver blue recycling bags to all households within the borders of our district and to involve all households in the zero waste management system. In addition, our Mobile waste collection centres and cross-street recycling containers are distributed to areas where there are households where blue recycling bags cannot be distributed without building decommissioning officers. The first Type of Waste Collection Centre required for the establishment of a zero waste management system was established by our municipality for the first time and received an approval letter from the Kayseri Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization. In addition, the compost project and the waste collection project were carried out by our municipality. Unlike many other municipalities, our municipality within the scope of social responsibility project collects textile waste, wearable ones are selected and delivered to our citizens in need by undergoing dry cleaning process. We received our zero waste award from Mrs. Emine Erdoğan at the 'Zero Waste Ideas and Project Implementation Competition for Municipalities' organized by the Union of Municipalities of Turkey within the scope of our education and awareness projects. As Melikgazi Municipality, recycling and zero waste projects are closely monitored and we continue to add new ones to our recycling projects every day, to be an example and reference.
