Melikgazi Municipality worked to heal the wounds of Iskenderun by providing vehicle and team support to the city after the flood disaster caused by heavy rains and sea overflow on November 27, 2023.

Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu, recalling their support for Iskenderun by sending machinery and personnel to assist in the operations, stated, "Due to heavy rainfall and strong winds on November 28 in Iskenderun, numerous areas experienced flooding, the sea overflowed, and streets and avenues near the coast were submerged. We provided support by sending machinery and personnel to aid Iskenderun.

For the past two weeks, environmental disasters have been ongoing, and AFAD volunteers from neighbouring provinces, as well as municipal and district governorate teams, have been providing support to the flood cleanup efforts. Melikgazi Municipality also contributed to assisting Iskenderun by sending machinery and personnel. Allah bless them. They have been working tirelessly there for two weeks. I extend my heartfelt thanks for their efforts. They assisted in water drainage operations with the tanker. As the Turkish nation, we have overcome all difficulties shoulder to shoulder. Just as in Iskenderun, all institutions and municipalities worked together to heal the wounds of the flood. Once again, a beautiful unity was experienced. Like yesterday, we will continue to support each other and fight together to heal our wounds.
