MELIKGAZI MUNICIPALITY STANDS BY CELIAC PATIENTS WITH ITS 'GLUTEN-FREE KITCHEN' COURSE.

Melikgazi Municipality's "Gluten-Free Kitchen Course," organized to increase awareness of healthy eating among celiac patients and individuals with gluten sensitivity living in the district, continues to attract great interest.

Saying that they continue to touch every segment of society with their understanding of social municipalism, Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu said, “Celiac disease is a disease that occurs in genetically predisposed individuals and causes damage to the small intestine due to gluten intake. As Melikgazi Municipality, we distribute gluten-free food packages to celiac patients living in our district as part of our social municipality services. In addition, to make things easier for celiac patients, whose only treatment is a strict diet and which lasts a lifetime, we organize a ‘Gluten-Free Kitchen Course’ at our Necip Fazıl Kısakürek Social Facilities. In this kitchen, trainees are given comprehensive information on the importance of gluten-free nutrition, different recipes with gluten-free ingredients, and correct cooking techniques. At the end of a 250-hour training, we also give trainees a certificate approved by the Ministry of National Education. We are aware that gluten-free products are costly and difficult to access. Thanks to the course, our citizens learn to make products that they have difficulty finding outside in the healthiest way at home. With this course, we both contribute to the budgets of our fellow citizens and increase their motivation in the kitchen. As a municipality..." Büşra Daylan, the instructor of the Gluten-Free Kitchen Course, who said that they welcome everyone with celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, and those who want to eat gluten-free to the course, also reminded that they have prepared gluten-free menus for sahur and iftar during the month of Ramadan.
