The construction of the Animal Care Center Project, designed for stray street animals throughout the district, which is being carried out by Melikgazi Municipality, is progressing rapidly.
The work on the shelter, which is being built on an area of 80,000 square meters, is continuing rapidly.
examined by Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa
Palancıoğlu said, “One of the most important problems of recent years is stray street animals. Therefore, our municipality is fulfilling its duty in this regard to the fullest extent. As Melikgazi Municipality, we currently have natural habitats in two different areas. Here, we host and care for over 1000 street animals. Our veterinary team constantly carries out sterilization procedures. Therefore, we are taking all kinds of precautions to ensure the safety of our streets. At the same time, we are building a large animal shelter on 25,000 square meters of this 80,000 square meter area. In this animal shelter, we have open and closed areas, feeding units, an operating room, sterilization units, and units related to the adoption of street animals. The rough construction is nearing completion. Hopefully, the fine construction will begin soon. With the completion of this place this summer, we will have a permanent shelter in addition to our two natural habitats. May it be auspicious.” He said.
Saying that Melikgazi Municipality supports other institutions and uses all available means to prevent street animals from causing problems, Mayor Palancıoğlu said the following:
“As Melikgazi Municipality, we turn food waste into natural animal feed here. Therefore, we prevent external dependence and reduce costs. At the same time, we are doing everything we can to ensure that street animals continue their lives here in a quality manner. We kindly ask you to report any stray or injured street animals you see to us. You can call 0530 253 91 91 You can report any situation regarding stray animals to our WhatsApp line. Our mobile team of 9 collects stray animals day and night. You can also apply through our website. This may be an area that citizens don't see, but there is a lot of hard work involved. Many thanks to all my colleagues. Thank you.”
