Melikgazi Municipality, which has started a new era based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS), has developed a system that can instantly track businesses in the district by categorizing them into thematic groups on digital maps with the digital map application it has recently implemented.

Emphasizing that they have added another one to their digital transformation initiatives within the scope of Smart Municipality, Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu stated, “With the GIS-based licensing application, which works in full integration with the Management Information System developed by our Research and Development Directorate, all licensed businesses in the district have been spatially mapped on a digital map on their respective parcels. This new generation application maximizes the work efficiency of municipal personnel. Our field staff can instantly view licensed businesses based on their location by performing street-based queries via smart devices. Thanks to this system, which can be used both in the office and in the field, Melikgazi's commercial inventory has become analyzable and transparent. Within the scope of the application, businesses have been grouped on the map according to specific categories in line with the needs of our municipal units. In this context, many groups such as food production and sales points, sanitary and non-sanitary establishments, and businesses with outdoor areas and awnings related to urban aesthetics are shown on thematic maps with different colors and symbols.” He said.

President Palancıoğlu, stating that this system allows for much faster, more effective, and data-driven execution of inspection, planning, and operational processes, said the following:
