Melikgazi Municipality participated in the “Zero Waste Workshop from Nature to the Future” program held at Erciyes University Sabancı Cultural Center within the scope of International Zero Waste Day, raising awareness about zero waste efforts.

After the program, officials from Melikgazi Municipality's Climate Change and Zero Waste Directorate provided information to citizens about Melikgazi Municipality's exemplary facility, zero waste efforts, trainings, zero waste and collection-sorting in the mobile zero waste collection and training vehicle.

Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Dr. stated that they continue to work diligently as a municipality to leave a clean and livable world for future generations. Mustafa Palancıoğlu stated, “We are working with Erciyes University on zero waste. In this context, we wanted to create awareness on the occasion of International Zero Waste Day. We give special importance to our children in environmental projects. With our recycling facility, we provide training to students from schools, acting as an educational center to raise environmentally conscious generations. Recycling is essential for the beautiful future of our world. As Melikgazi Municipality, we are implementing projects related to waste and the environment in every field. Again, within this scope, our officials provided training to mall employees and citizens with our Melikgazi Municipality mobile zero waste collection and training vehicle stationed in front of the shopping mall. As Melikgazi Municipality, we do not see zero waste as merely separating waste and using recycling bins. Zero waste is not just a responsibility, but a strong strategic choice. It is not only an environmental but also an economic and social transformation process. With this movement, we both protect our resources and raise a generation with high environmental awareness. We recycle approximately 30 tons of household waste from our district every day. As Melikgazi Municipality, we are committed to this goal.” "We renewed our Zero Waste certificate for our municipal service building, and we also obtained Zero Waste Certificates for all of our municipality's social facilities.
