The introductory program of Melikgazi Municipality Mehmet Altun Aviation and Space
Technologies Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School was held.
The school, which was revived in the area where Tayyare ve Motor AŞ (TOMTAŞ), Turkey's first aircraft factory, was established, and which is among the 13 schools in Turkey within the scope of the Diamond Model, aims to train qualified employees for the defense industry with its domestic and national technology vision.
Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu, in his speech at the introductory program, stated the following:
“We have built many schools, but this school is very important for us, for Turkey, for the oppressed. It is very important for Türkiye's defense industry and economic future. Therefore, we value it very much. First of all, I would like to thank our Minister Mehmet Özhaseki, who brought us together with Attorney Mehmet Altun regarding the school. With our uncle Mehmet Altun, we are building not only this school, but a total of 4 schools. This is actually our second year at the Aviation High School; a beautiful educational journey continues here. Kayseri's Aircraft Factory and aviation history goes back a long time, and we are celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. An Aircraft Factory was established in this area where our Aviation and Space Sciences High School is located, but its story was left unfinished. With our Aviation High School, this unfinished story will start again from where it left off. From here..." Brilliant young people will be raised, new Selçuk Bayraktars will contribute to this country. Soon we will lay the foundation of the Technology High School opposite the Technopark. We are building two more schools in the Altınoluk region, this will be a Foreign Trade High School. Our goal is not just to build school buildings; it is to plan the future of our youth and our country. We may be a district municipality, but with the projects we have realized and our vision, young people who will have a say in the future of both Kayseri and our country will be educated in these schools. Everything begins with a dream. Our dream is for young people who produce UAVs, UCAVs and robots to graduate from Kayseri, from these schools. First of all, I would like to thank Uncle Mehmet Altun for the schools he had built. I would also like to thank our Governor of Kayseri, Mr. Gökmen Çiçek; from the day he came to us... He has been providing support in many areas since then. We brought Mektep Melikgazi to life with our esteemed Governor. Again, with our esteemed Governor and District Governor Sedat Sırrı Arısoy, we started our GÖKTİM Melikgazi project, and I express my gratitude to them. We continue to provide support to our students in aviation, both in the workshops we established in our municipality's social facilities and in the schools that our esteemed Governor designated and assigned to our industrialists.”
AVIATION AND SPACE SCIENCES HIGH SCHOOL BECOMES A PROJECT SCHOOL
Mayor Palancıoğlu stated that the Aviation and Space Sciences High School was included in the project school scope by the Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin. He continued his speech by giving the good news: “We visited our Minister of National Education together with our General Hulusi Akar a few days ago. Let me give you some good news: Our esteemed Minister approved our Aviation High School to become a 'Project School'. This place will move towards the future with much more confident steps. I thank our valuable Minister. Our President of the Defense Industry, Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, gave great support to this school. With his support, our general managers of TUSAŞ and TEI, and our defense industry companies, especially ASELSAN, took ownership of this place; I thank them. They donated a helicopter to our school, and 10 large containers full of brand new helicopter parts arrived here. We have 11 workshops, and we are furnishing all of them. We didn't just build the school building; as the Municipality, this place is completely under our protection. It is a high-cost, important project..." We established a computer lab with software, and we will also complete the equipment for the workshops. We participate in TEKNOFESTs with our students. We sent our students on technical trips to ASELSAN and TUSAŞ. TUSAŞ engineers provide online training 3 days a week. Although our young people are currently in the preparatory class, they can conduct R&D studies on UAVs and UCAVs. This summer, we want to send some of our students to America, the center of this field, for a one-month training camp on both English and aviation. We are working very closely with our Provincial National Education Director Coşkun Esen and our District National Education Director Hacı Kaya on school matters. We will also lay the foundations for new schools. Everyone needs to support and take ownership of these schools. This place needs to be TOMTAŞ's main base. This school will make a great contribution to our country's defense industry. I thank everyone who contributed.”
The philanthropist lawyer, who is experiencing the happiness and pride of bringing his 31st school to life. Mehmet Altun also gave a speech, saying, "Our Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu always thought about and dreamed of building such a school.
We met and came together to turn this dream into reality. I started to feel very happy when UAVs and UCAVs showed themselves in the sky.
TOMTAŞ, whose foundation was conceived in 1925, was established here in 1926 to make airplanes.
When we started building schools in Kayseri, we decided to build this school in Melikgazi. Our Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu was the biggest supporter in the planning and realization of this school. Together with my dear and very valuable brother, the pride of Kayseri and the apple of Turkey's eye, Mehmet Özhaseki, we ensured the construction of these schools. Thus, we have come together at the opening of this school, which is our 31st school and has the highest spiritual value. I believe that our school will provide benefits from eternity to eternity, and I wish it to be auspicious." I wish." He said.
The Provincial Director of National Education, Coşkun Esen, said the following:
"In order to make the infrastructure of education in Kayseri more qualified and therefore to be able to speak in the 21st century, we are continuing all our efforts for quality education. Our vocational high school, whose introductory ceremony we held, is positioned in a way that will point to the vision of Turkey, and is a high school that will serve the aims and services within the framework of the vocational education policy document published by our President in 2024. This year, it started its second academic year, accepting its students through the central examination system, and continues its education life with 88 students and 23 teachers. We are in a large district. Quality education in quality environments It is done. Our most fundamental goal is to raise children who will have a say in the 21st century, to raise generations of students with the vision and quality to have a say in Türkiye's love for space and aviation. I express my gratitude to Mr. Mehmet Altun, the benefactor of the school. I express my gratitude to our Melikgazi Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu, the founder of our school and the builder of our school, and I wish our school to be auspicious and successful." AK Party Kayseri Member of Parliament Şaban Çopuroğlu also said, "Thank God, the point we have reached from the past to the present is that it is a great pleasure to see the Kaan mini prototypes, managed and driven by high school students, in the air. Now they say, 'Going to the sky requires courage, staying there requires effort.' With the self-confidence and courage shown by our Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu and especially our President on this issue..." Here, frankly, they became a model for a country that says 'we are also here' in the competitive conditions of the sky. I think the next stage is up to the students. The students here are confident, self-assured, and knowledgeable about the subject. I thank our teachers who have trained these students. Tomorrow, when Kayseri's pastrami and sausage are talked about, I think we will all see aviation included. Because Kayseri is not only the homeland of pastrami, sausage, and ravioli, but also the homeland of trade, furniture, and steel doors. It is also a city that hosts students. If we continue in this manner in terms of managing and organizing these things; we hope that tomorrow will be ours. I wish our school to be auspicious and I hope that many students will enter here. I thank those who contributed and our benefactor." He said: Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek, stating that the Melikgazi Municipality Mehmet Altun Aviation and Space Technologies Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School has lit a new light of hope for Kayseri, said, "Kayseri has important milestones in its aviation history. From the moment this high school opened, it became one of the important stages in these milestones. It has written its name in golden letters in the history of aviation and in Kayseri's contributions to Turkish aviation. These schools are built by people who care deeply. People who are in love with their country, nation, and flag, and who think of the children of their country with every breath they take, build them. When these caring people come together, magnificent things emerge. In the story of this matter; we have an elder like Uncle Mehmet Altun, who spends what he earns on the children of his nation and gives it as a gift to them, and again, he has dedicated all his efforts and work to this country..." "When Mustafa Palancıoğlu, who, despite being a mayor, is responsible for the roads, water, and electricity of his area, and who built 26 schools in 7 years, asking himself 'how can I contribute to education,' came together with the mayor, this magnificent work emerged. When the dreams of two concerned people came to fruition, we were happy and we thanked them. We are proud of our students here. You will work tirelessly to raise this red flag above other flags. Because you are the hope and expectation of this nation. May God bless our Uncle Mehmet Altun, who donated his wealth and land to the children of this country and this city so that they could study with better opportunities, and our benevolent Uncle Osman Ulubaş, who built 17 schools, mosques, and health centers to provide better opportunities for the children of this country. May God grant them long lives." he said.
