Melikgazi Municipality, which successfully implements zero-waste practices to protect the environment and recycle waste, has launched a new application.

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change provided a grant for the "Zero Waste Good Practices Project." The "Mobile Zero Waste Collection and Education Vehicle" was procured for use in schools and neighborhoods to develop zero waste projects and conduct zero waste education. It will give new impetus to recycling.

Recyclable packaging waste, vegetable oils, waste batteries, etc. can be collected from neighborhoods and recycled with the Mobile Zero Waste Collection and Education Vehicle.

Citizens and children can throw their waste into the vehicle, which has been provided for use in the development of zero waste projects and zero waste education programs in schools and neighborhoods. Designed to raise awareness about clean environment and zero waste, the vehicle will visit neighborhoods and schools to raise awareness about zero waste, while also providing opportunities for a clean environment in Melikgazi by collecting waste.

The Melikgazi Municipality Mobile Waste Vehicle, charged with electricity generated from solar power plants (SPP) projects, can also be tracked via a mobile phone app.

Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. stated that recycling efforts are continuing for a sustainable future in Melikgazi. Mustafa Palancıoğlu said, “We prioritize zero-waste efforts to leave a clean environment for future generations and to create a sustainable future for our district, city, and country. Every week, we distribute and collect blue bags to thousands of buildings within the borders of Melikgazi Municipality. We provide packaging waste collection and separation services with 400 Zero Waste Collection Equipment. Our Zero Waste and Training Facility is one of the leading collection and separation facilities in our country. Thousands of our students receive zero waste training at our facility. As Melikgazi Municipality, we play a leading and important role in zero waste. Our “Mobile Lego Recycling Facility Model” was awarded in the “Zero Waste Idea Project Implementation Competition for Municipalities,” organized by the Union of Municipalities of Turkey and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change. Now, to take our efforts one step further, we have brought our “Mobile Zero Waste Collection and Training Vehicle” to Melikgazi. We've made it possible. Our vehicle will accompany us at our event venues, school visits, and trips. It will raise awareness among our citizens about zero waste while also collecting and recycling waste. Recycling is essential for a brighter future for our world!
