Melikgazi Municipality Recycling Facility brings an average of 9000 tons of recyclable waste back into the economy annually. The “Mobile Zero Waste Collection and Education Vehicle,” which was procured to increase environmental awareness among citizens and children and to spread the recycling culture, is giving a new impetus to recycling. Designed to create awareness about clean environment and zero waste, the vehicle travels to neighborhoods and schools, raising awareness about zero waste while collecting waste and ensuring a clean environment. Stating that recycling is one of the most important issues in Melikgazi, Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu said, “Within the scope of the “Zero Waste Project” initiated by Mrs. Emine Erdoğan, wife of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and with the support of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, we are carrying out successful recycling efforts in Melikgazi. Within the borders of Melikgazi Municipality, we regularly distribute and collect blue bags in thousands of buildings every week. We provide packaging waste collection and sorting services with 400 Zero Waste Collection Equipment. Our Zero Waste and Training Facility is one of the reference collection and sorting facilities in our country. Thousands of our students receive training on zero waste at our facility. In the “Zero Waste Idea Project Implementation Competition for Municipalities” organized by the Union of Municipalities of Turkey and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, our “Mobile Lego Recycling Facility Model” was awarded. Our “Mobile Zero Waste Collection and Training Vehicle” was also awarded. "We have brought this to Melikgazi. Our vehicle accompanies us in our event areas, school visits, and trips, and while raising awareness among our citizens about zero waste, it also collects waste and brings it to recycling.
