Melikgazi Municipality, which is involved in many artistic and social projects, presented the film "İşte Babam" (This Is My Father), directed by Özgür Akbulut, to hearing-impaired citizens.

"Overcoming Barriers with Art is Possible"

Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. said that they presented the specially produced film, featuring an entirely hearing-impaired cast, to the audience at the Melikgazi Municipality Theater Hall. Mustafa Palancıoğlu said, "As the Melikgazi Municipality, we serve in many areas, including culture and arts. We staged two sessions of the film 'İşte Babam' (This Is My Father), hosted by Melikgazi Municipality and featuring deaf actors and watched by hearing-impaired citizens. The film is a silent film. It emotionally portrays a hearing-impaired individual's struggle to hold on to life and family ties. It is possible to overcome obstacles through art. This film, which received high marks from the audience, is considered one of the strongest examples of this. It was an exemplary work, both technically and artistically. We are delighted to see individuals with disabilities actively participating in life and participating in many fields, professions, and especially in the arts. This special event aims to raise social awareness and promote inclusivity by showcasing the artistic talents of individuals with disabilities. This work has both raised awareness and demonstrated how successful individuals with hearing impairments can be in their artistic production processes.
