Melikgazi Municipality, which uses a solar power plant (SPP) in many parts of the district to convert natural resources into energy, generated 2,239,082.5 kWh of electricity in the first seven months of 2025, generating 11,593,746 TL in revenue.
Melikgazi's revenue
Between 2016 and 2025, 12,763 tons of carbon dioxide emissions and the loss of 607,777 trees were prevented, while enough energy was produced to meet the electricity needs of 24,976 residences.
Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. stated that the contribution of the revenue generated from solar power plants to the municipal budget continues to increase every year. Mustafa Palancıoğlu said, "Renewable energy systems are among the important projects for the best use of our country's resources. We are working on solar power plants in many areas and places in our district to convert solar potential into energy. We are integrating public spaces such as municipal buildings, parking areas, marketplaces, and rooftops into solar power plant projects. In this way, we are supporting environmentally friendly energy production and significantly reducing our municipality's energy costs. At a time when energy is so precious, every project our municipality undertakes regarding solar power plants is invaluable. With its solar power plant investment, Melikgazi not only demonstrates an environmentally friendly approach but also makes significant contributions to the economy. Thanks to our solar power plants, we are achieving economic, ecological, and social gains. With our energy independence, we are investing in both today and tomorrow. Between 2016 and 2025, Melikgazi Municipality will be investing in solar power plants. 29,972,121.52 kWh of electricity was produced, generating a profit of 65,370,033 Turkish Lira. Electricity production in the first seven months of 2025 is approximately 2,239,082.5 kWh. In other words, we generated a profit of 11,593,746 TL from our solar power plants in these first seven months. Thus, we both reduced energy costs and contributed to the environment. In this first seven-month period, we produced enough energy to meet the needs of 1,865 homes. he said.
“We broke new ground by installing a solar power plant on the roofs of the Urban Transformation Blocks…”
Mayor Palancıoğlu stated that they have included urban transformation blocks in their environmentally friendly projects, saying, “While transforming our neighborhoods in our district through urban transformation, we are also careful to use environmentally friendly, renewable energy. In Kayseri, we have also broken new ground by installing a solar power plant on the roofs of our Yıldırım Beyazıt urban transformation blocks. This has a total power output of 60 kWe / 71.4 kWp. "We plan to meet the electricity consumption in the common areas of the buildings with the solar power plants we have built on the roofs of six blocks. With the exemplary projects we are implementing as part of urban transformation, we aim to guide our contractors towards renewable energy solutions and raise awareness in this area. In today's world, where the effects of global warming are beginning to be felt, we must conserve energy by protecting our natural resources. As Melikgazi Municipality, we will continue our renewable, inexhaustible, and environmentally friendly solar power plant projects with the goal of using energy resources more efficiently," he said.
