AN AWARENESS TRAINING SPECIAL FOR CELIAC DISEASE DAY WAS GIVEN IN MELIKGAZI.
09 May 2026

Melikgazi Municipality and the District National Education Directorate collaborated to organize a special information and awareness training program for students in the district as part of "World Celiac Awareness Day".

Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu met with students with celiac sensitivity studying in schools in the district and gave them gluten-free food packages.

Stating that they have always supported various events organized to increase celiac awareness and improve healthy living consciousness in society, Mayor Palancıoğlu said, "Celiac disease is not a disease, it is a necessity of a lifestyle. May God not give anyone health problems. I think that packaged foods and industrial foods cause many diseases in the intestines and stomach, and therefore cause celiac disease. We need to pay attention to what we eat and our health. Celiac disease is a lifestyle that can be managed with proper nutrition rather than a disease. As Melikgazi Municipality, within the scope of social municipality studies, we create awareness by coming together with those who have celiac sensitivity and their families. I would like to thank our District National Education Director Mr. Hacı Kaya, who contributed to the program, and Kayseri Celiac Association. "I thank our Life Association President, Ms. Zahide Kaya, and wish a healthy life to our children with celiac sensitivity," he said. District National Education Director Hacı Kaya also thanked Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu for always supporting citizens with celiac disease, and said that they will continue to organize various trainings and events to raise awareness. “Celiac disease is not a choice, it is a lifelong lifestyle.” Zahide Kaya, the President of the Kayseri Celiac Disease Living Association, said the following: “Our biggest goal in this program is to make our children with celiac disease feel that they are not alone and to create awareness in society. Therefore, knowing and understanding what celiac disease is is very important. Every child here is very precious to us. Today is the day to listen to the voices of children, young people, and families who have to live gluten-free. Because we want to be understood not just one day, but every day. I would like to thank our Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu, our District National Education Directorate, and everyone who supported this program.” Dietitian Tuğçe Demirbaş, on the other hand, gave detailed information to the students and participating families on gluten-free and healthy eating, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness about celiac disease and gluten, and supporting healthy eating habits. He took a picture.
