Melikgazi Municipality, which will restore the 525-year-old historical Gön Han and turn it into a living place hosting various events, has reached the end of the restoration works.

Saying that they have always given great importance to historical artifacts that form a bridge between the past and the future, Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu said, “As Melikgazi Municipality, we are carrying out restoration works with great care to protect our cultural heritage. While bringing historical artifacts to light, we are giving them new functions and presenting them to Melikgazi. We inspected the current status of the work at Gön Han, one of the most important restoration projects in Kayseri that Melikgazi Municipality has undertaken in recent years. We have rebuilt this Han, which was built by Piri Mehmet Pasha approximately 525 years ago, from its ashes. It has become very beautiful. This is a place next to Vezir Han, the Covered Bazaar and the Grand Mosque. Currently, only minor touch-ups remain. I thank everyone who contributed and all my colleagues. Hopefully, this place will host very colorful exhibitions, concerts, meetings and various panels in the summer of 2026. I think this Han will revitalize the center of our city.
