Melikgazi Municipality provided training on the topic of 'Digital Life and Communication' aimed at municipal personnel. 

The training covered the impact of digital life on communication with the widespread use of the internet, as well as the influence of social media on daily communication. 

Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu stated that transitioning communication to social media instead of engaging in direct communication has digitized human relationships. He said, "With the advent of the internet into our lives, many things have become easier. We can access information quickly, go wherever we want without even needing to search for addresses, and many other advantages exist. However, the media platforms entering our lives are digitizing our relationships and adversely affecting our face-to-face communication skills. This relationship occurring on social media eventually leads people to be unable to communicate directly. Beautiful conversations, face-to-face meetings, and deep, meaningful discussions have unfortunately been replaced by desires for followers and sending interactions. People are talking about the number of followers on social media. As time passes, people cannot even find topics to talk about. We are faced with a quantitative system that measures people not by their qualities, but by numbers. This situation leads to relationships devoid of empathy and communication skills, which are not understood. A person who becomes estranged from their community and themselves can eventually lose their ability to express themselves. Even discussions take place in the digital realm. However, it is crucial for us to establish effective and one-on-one communication. I hope that the training aimed at fostering empathy, strengthening our relationships, and enabling healthy communication will be beneficial. Our in-service training will continue intermittently.
