MAYOR PALANCIOĞLU BECAME THE VOICE OF TURKEY IN BRUSSELS

Melikgazi Municipality Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu, who has been representing Turkey in Europe for about 10 years, attended a meeting held in Brussels on April 29 and 30, where he was invited as a speaker at the session titled "Recent Developments in Turkey and EU - Turkey Relations" by the European Committee of the Regions Turkey Relations Working Group.
On December 4, 2023, Mayor Palancıoğlu hosted the European Committee of the Regions Turkey Relations Working Group in Kayseri Melikgazi, where he delivered a speech to the members of the working group about recent developments in Turkey and the local elections held on March 31, 2024.
At the meeting chaired by Antje Grotheer, the Chair of the European Committee of the Regions Turkey Relations Working Group and President of the Bremen Parliament, after speeches by Turkey Rapporteur and Member of the European Parliament Nacho Sánchez and Turkey's Permanent Representative to the EU Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, Mayor Palancıoğlu delivered a speech discussing current developments in Turkey and the results of the local elections held on March 31, 2024.
Mayor Palancıoğlu expressed his views on the massacre carried out by Israel in Gaza and the war in Ukraine during his speech. He also addressed Turkey's relations with the European Union, focusing on topics such as Turkey's security, terrorism, visa liberalization with the EU, migration and refugees, energy, and transportation.
At the same meeting, former Mayor of Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality, Hayrettin Güngör, also briefed the working group on the earthquakes that occurred on February 6 and the post-earthquake efforts in Kahramanmaraş.
