Melikgazi Municipality is restoring the Suya Kanmış Hatun Mausoleum located in Yanıkoğlu Neighborhood and putting it back into service.

      Mayor of Melikgazi Mustafa Palancioglu, recalling that an environmental order study was conducted at Suya Kanmış Hatun Mausoleum, which was completed during the restoration work, said: “Suya Kanmış Hatun Mausoleum, which has been serving for 510 years until today, has an interesting story. Our benefactor, whom we named after the founder of this place, the Ottoman army, served water to the army with a test from here on his way to the expedition, and the water never ran out, he showed mercy. When this news reached the sultan, the sultan gave her many lands as a gift. And this chick started a charitable foundation out of these plots. The upper dome of this place has already collapsed. Therefore, we have now decided on the restoration and implemented it. We replaced the worn damaged stones on the walls of the mausoleum with new ones.  The existing inner dome and cone of the building were completed in accordance with the restoration project. Our Municipality of Melikgazi, which is shown as an example in Turkey, which is a reference for our studies on the historical structure of Melikgazi, continues to have historical buildings that are facing extinction. We are working to preserve the historical values of our district, restoring important historical buildings and bringing them to the present day.  After the restoration work, it will be put back into service.
